The skill in any refurbishment project is in understanding the building to be adapted, its materials and methods of construction.
Over the years Morrish have developed comprehensive survey and testing procedures to identify important criteria such as; maximum capacity for any proposed loading, which in turn allows advice on the potential for building expansion. Alternatively, if a building is in poor condition due to corrosion for example, then it may require considerable remedial works.
Where significant alteration and adaption is planned, buildability has to be proved. We will consider all aspects, including suggested temporary works, to ensure that our duties are fulfilled as regards risk management and construction procedures are confirmed. This approach is favoured and appreciated by most contractors.
Our expertise in refurbishment means we have had the privilege to work on some of the country’s finest historic buildings including The Natural History Museum, The Palace of Westminster and the V&A, together with a number of historic/listed domestic properties. Here ensuring that designs are always sympathetic to their surroundings is a must.
